About Stefania Munzi

​

Artist and art teacher Stefania Munzi graduated Magna Cum Laude from Albertus Magnus College with a BA in Fine Arts and was awarded the Beverly Chieffo Award for Excellence in 2012. She has been teaching high school art for 12 years in both Hartford and now currently in New Haven at Hillhouse High School. 

After her oldest son Joseph was born with microtia, Stefania began creating portraits that celebrate differences and representation. Her work received national attention and inspired her debut picture book,"Jojo's Tiny Ears. In 2024, she published her second children's book, "C'era Una Volta in Wooster Square", featuring watercolor paintings of New Haven's beloved Italian -American neighborhood. Much of her work focuses on her Italian roots. "C'era Una Volta in Wooster Square" has received endorsements from Congresswoman Rosa Delauro, award winning actor Paul Giamatti, Sopranos star Steve Schirripia, Mayor Justin Elicker of New Haven and sculptor of the Wooster Square Monument Indicando la via al Futuro" Mark Massaro.
